Holiday Song Compare and Contrast

In music a "cover" is when an artist records a song that was previously recorded by another artist. Covers give us a chance to hear different artists perform the same song. This assignment is meant to introduce you to different artists and different styles of singing. For each song, I've tried to find many a range of artists from different decades.

Realize that all the artists included here were very successful in their time. I want you to try to understand why, regardless of whether you like them or not.

Instructions:

1. Choose THREE songs. There are six total. I will give you extra credit if you do a fourth song.
2. Listen to two versions, or covers, of each song. Some songs give you more choices.
3. Use the assignment on Google Classroom to tell me which version or cover of each song you liked best and why.
4. If you have any questions or problems, please email me.
5. Spelling counts.
6. Grammar counts. Remember, song titles go in quotation marks. You may abbreviate the songs if you wish.

Depending on how thorough you are, the whole assignment will probably take anywhere from one to two hours. If you break this up and do one song at a time it will be easy.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!

NOTE: If you have any problems getting the songs to play, try a different browser.
