This assignment is designed to have you listen to some excellent choral groups and think about the unique sound they create. Even among world-class choirs, the sound is different. There are three groups here. The Cambridge Singers is a group at Cambridge University that specializes in an old English sound. The King's Singers are also from the UK. It as a group of six men. They also specialize in older English style, although they sing popular songs as well. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir is one of the largest choirs you'll ever hear. With 360 members they sing a blend of sacred and pop.
I want you to think about the sound quality and the way these world-famous vocal groups sound. Make sure to complete Part 1 AND 2.
You may complete this whenever you like, but it is due by January 5, 2016.
Part 1
Your assignment is to listen to four songs from this section. They are mostly about three minutes each. At least two of them need to NOT be by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Tell me which song you liked most and why. Use the assignment I created on Google classroom to answer these.
Part 2: Compare and Contrast
In this section you are going to listen to the same song performed by two different choirs (or different versions by the same choir). Please pick ONE of the following songs. Listen to both versions, then tell me which one you like best and why.
The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on the Open Fire).
