Ms. Yingling Reads is a site where a middle school librarian reviews books, with a special interest in books that appeal to boys. I don't know Ms. Yingling, but she was kind enough to review my book. It is always gratifying when someone you don't know likes your work!
"...Funny, funny lines! Any book with the first line...will be a popular book. I also thought that the world of magic was realistically and clearly defined. Also today, a very generous review from author Diane Tolley. She kindly took time out from her funny and heartwarming stories about frontier life to talk about The Kindling: "The Kindling takes us, together with thirteen-year-olds Conner, Lexa and Melanie, on a non-stop roller-coater ride of Magic and mayhem with a large dollop of Adventure (notice the capital 'A') with some good old rock'em, sock'em fighting to the finish between the forces of Light and Dark....Written mainly for middle readers, The Kindling will satisfy the craving for adventure in all who succumb to the pull of its great cover...."
And, my personal favorite part of the review:
"The Kindling raises three important questions:
1. Has the destructive power of pizza ever really been tested?
2. Did anyone know that middle school teachers could turn out to be your best friends/army buddies?
3. When's the next book?"(Read more here)
